Orientation/What to Expect

Wild Ginger is alcohol and drug free and is family friendly. While the WG community is made up of mostly women, we welcome men and children too. Each year brings more and more diversity in the community.

Camp begins on Thursday evening and ends Sunday afternoon. The opening ritual is Thursday evening, so it's best to arrive in time to pitch your tent or claim a bunk in one of the shared cabins. Check out our Sample Schedule. We have one special needs cabin, so please be sure to inquire about this when you register for camp. All meals are provided, so you don't need to bring food or cooking implements. Once you are on the land, we meet your every need, so we ask that you stay for the duration to help contain the energy and community of camp.

There will be free time for dancing, drumming, swimming, sunning, taking a nap, and optional offerings. Bring along anything you'd like to teach or share. Wild Gingers are always up for something new. Remember to bring things for the raffle! (OOOOOH, AAAAAH! Fabulous prizes!).

Breadwork is the real magic of Wild Ginger. Each adult camper is expected to sign up for 2 breadwork shifts. Breadwork can be fun and it's an opportunity to get to know people in a more casual way. Breadwork includes tasks such as sweeping the dining hall, cleaning up a ritual firepit, or assisting with childcare.

Childcare is provided during rituals and Path time Most of the camp activities are child friendly but sometimes, witchlets get bored or parents want to be able to fully participate in the rituals. Two specific members of the community, with parental support, entertain and supervise the children. Be sure to register for childcare when you arrive.

Myth, Magic and Mystery - Witchcraft is explored, taught and shared through large community rituals, small workshops (paths), affinity groups (intimate discussion / support groups)and optional offerings (spontaneous community based teachings). Each year's theme is built around a myth or a a magical teaching. Campers are encouraged to participate to their own comfort level, whether it's accepting an invitation to help priestess a ritual, adding your voice to a chant, or quietly lending your energy to the magic.

Arts and Crafts Vending – Campers are invited to register for vending space to sell creative and witchy items. Vendors contribute 10% of their earnings to the Scholarship fund and donate an item to the raffle. If you have questions, contact the vending coordinator (margaretrossiter@rogers.com ).

Scholarships and Work Exchanges- are offered to assist those who need financial assistance with the registration fee. Wild Ginger Organizers raises funds for this through the sale of camp souvenirs and through our ever popular RAFFLE. Campers are encouraged to bring witchy items, books, rital wear, pretty much anything to donate to the raffle "

Phone Access - phone at camp is only checked once a day and is only for emergencies 519-925-6432.

Offerings are included that are vegan, gluten free, and sometimes even sugar free. If you have a special diet that is not accommodated as noted above, we encourage you to bring along a cooler with your special supplies. We can provide (limited) storage for special needs food.

The water at camp is tested regularly, however if you have specific concerns, we encourage you to bring along your own water.
